Explosion-proof Rated Miniature Bearing Sensors
Introducing explosion-proof rated Ex/MBS Series sensors
Conax Technologies’ Ex/MBS Series sensors are explosion-proof rated
Ex/MBS Series sensors are explosion-proof rated for a variety of applications and industries
The bearings of industrial rotating equipment operate under arduous conditions – often for considerable periods of time. Sustained exposure to these conditions can cause the seal in typical temperature sensing assemblies to break down over time.
When this happens, the seal fails and leads to oil wicking through the lead wire and continuing into the junction box. When the temperature in the junction box heats up, the leaking and pooled oil can potentially ignite, causing catastrophic failure at the junction box.
Conax Technologies’ NEVER-FAIL redundant seal
Conax Technologies’ Ex/MBS Series sensors are environmentally sealed by a proprietary process. Our NEVER-FAIL solution employs this proprietary process to create the primary seal between the epoxy and the wire outer jacket.
While the primary seal is designed to keep oil out of the sensor, what sets Conax Ex/MBS sensors apart from competitors is our exclusive redundant sealing method added between the epoxy and the wire assembly. This shuts off potential leaks at critical points along the wire.
In the unlikely event that the primary seal fails, there is secondary sealing that prevents oil from accessing the inside of the wire insulation and stops oil from wicking. This eliminates the need for any specially rated fittings.
One major turbine manufacturer has used Conax Technologies’ miniature bearing sensors exclusively since 2003, and the sensors have never failed.
Our proprietary potting process enables a rated pull strength of 30 pounds of force at operating temperatures, outperforming competitors that have a pull strength of just 10 pounds.
Applications in a variety of industries
Available as thermocouples and RTDs in five industry-standard cap sizes, Conax Ex/MBS Series sensors are used in multiple industry applications, such as power generation turbines, water and wastewater treatment plants, oil refineries, petrochemical plants, industrial gas production facilities, and renewable energy sources.
Certifications for Conax explosion-proof rated Ex/MBS assemblies
Conax Technologies’ explosion-proof rated Ex/MBS Series sensors have received the most stringent certifications, assuring they’re safe in explosive atmospheres, including:
