Conax designed an extremely rugged mineral insulated cable assembly with a proprietary mounting support adapter to withstand high shock and vibration from missile tests.
Customer Requirement
The customer wished to purchase temperature sensors to monitor fuel and air temperature on a missile test stand. Nine sensors were required per missile, three for fuel measurement and six for air measurement. The sensors were to use Types E and K thermocouples and had to withstand high temperatures and rigorous shock and vibration, meeting profiles provided by the customer. The sensors needed to survive only one test run, but multiple sets were needed to test multiple missiles.
Conax Solution
Conax designed an extremely rugged mineral insulated cable assembly with a proprietary mounting support adapter that provides the mechanical strength needed to withstand high shock and vibration. The all-welded design features plasma, laser and TIG welds in various locations. These features allow the assemblies to survive vibration at high temperatures.
